報告簡介
The transportation of fine-grained suspended particulate matters (SPM) in estuaries and coastal environments is a key factor in many engineering and environmental issues (e.g., siltation, dredging, bed morphology, and water quality). One important characteristic that affects the transport and fate of SPM is flocculation, which describes the aggregation and breakage processes for single particles to form clusters (flocs) with varying sizes, densities, and settling velocities. In natural environments, other anthropogenic particles such as microplastics can also aggregate with fine sediments, which leads to heterogeneous particles that have significant impact on the transportation of SPM. This presentation tackles the biophysical flocculation of natural and anthropogenic particles in coastal waters, with field and laboratory works, and numerical models based on the population balance modeling.
