Dr. Fan Ziwu,Professor & senior engineer, leads the urban hydraulics team at the Hydraulic Engineering Department of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute. He is a registered consultant of Jiangsu Province,selected as a leading young specialists of the “333 high-level talents” program of Jiangsu and “Millions of Talent Projects National candidates”. Dr Fan is also honered with Special government allowances of the State Council . He is an experienced researcher of flood risk and urban water environment. He has won one National Science and Technology Award and another four ministerial level science and technology awards. He has also obtained six patents and finished more than ten key projects funded by national, provincial or ministerial programs.In recent years, he is actively promoting the transfer of research findings into practical applications. He has completed more than 20 projects of urban risk mapping and water environment management, which have achieved remarkable results in Suzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai, etc.,Abundant results have been achieved, especially in the numerical water quality simulation of urban river network. Dr. Fan is currently focusing on the development of a joint control platform for urban river water environment, which aims to provide a set of smart management tools for water environment control.
