Professor Zhang had his PhD at The University of Queensland, Australia in 2000. His research interests include lake catchment hydrology, coupled modeling of surface water-groundwater flow and seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers. He is currently leading several research projects, exploring the impacts of climate change and operation of large hydraulic engineering, e.g. the Three Gorges Dam, on lake hydrological regime, extreme hydrological events and associated lake ecological consequences, in the middle and lower Yangtze Rivers.
